About
Therapy can transform us, shift us, and bring us a greater understanding of ourselves. It can heal our deepest hurts and help us understand our own thread in the fabric of our lives.
I know this because I have had this experience myself and it is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about doing this work. I find it incredibly meaningful to sit with people as they grow, change, and come into a greater fullness of themselves and their relationships with others.
In my experience, the aspect of therapy that provides the biggest impact is the connection between therapist and client. Creating a relationship that is based on emotional safety, trust, and hope, where you feel attuned to and accepted, as well as challenged to look at yourself in meaningful ways is key. It takes safety and trust to be willing to explore and change our lifelong narrative about ourselves. We have all been hurt or wounded, have experienced pain and suffering. I believe counseling can help to diminish the ways in which these pain points can continue to affect our lives through conscious and unconscious means.
I was drawn to this work by my genuine interest in what it means to be human. I am moved by what it takes to contact our deepest understanding of ourselves and to be curious about the people around us. I believe that we have the power to heal our painful wounds both through connection to others and through a willingness to sit with our own discomfort. And I know that that’s not always easy to do but is endlessly rewarding.
My theoretical approach draws upon many modalities, such as Depth Psychology, Somatic Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gestalt Therapy, IFS Therapy, Psychodynamic work, trauma informed awareness, Eco Therapy, Integrative Therapy, parts work, T-group philosophy as well as others. I draw on my decades of experience with mindfulness and yoga. I have a passion for the outdoors and how that connection can also contribute to a sense of peace and an awareness of the interconnectedness of this much greater system that we are all a part of.
I look forward to talking with you and seeing if we are a good fit.
I am currently seeing clients in person in my office in Berkeley.
